ABOUT THE CHARITY (MAMA IBADO CHARITY):
The Mama Ibado Charity is an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-religious, non-discriminative and non-governmental organization registered in Canada, on the 1st of January, 2014, in honor of the late Mama Ibado Haji, endeavoring to offer care and support to the less privileged in the community of Isiolo county in Kenya.
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION (MAMA IBADO CHARITABLE FOUNDATION):
The Mama Ibado Charitable Foundation is an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-religious, non-discriminative and non-governmental organization founded in Kenya on November 2011 in honor of the Late Mama Ibado Haji. It offers care and support to the less privileged in the community of Isiolo County in Kenya with goal of creating sustainable development in the region.
WHERE WE WORK:
The foundation operates in Isiolo county, Easter Province Kenya.
Isiolo County is located in the upper eastern region of Kenya. It borders sever countries with Garissa to the east, Wajir to the north east, Meru to the south west, Samburu to the east, Marsabit to the north west, with Kitui and Tana River counties t the south west and south east respectively.
It covers an areas of 25,698km with a population of 143, 294. 51% of the population are men and 49% women. The age distribution is follows:
- 1-14 years 44%
- 15-64 years 52%
- 65+ years 4%
71% of the population lives below the poverty line.
The climate temperature ranges from a minimum of between 12 degrees centigrade to a maximum of 28 degrees. Rainfall ranges from 150mm per annum this is typical of arid and semi arid lands in Kenya.
The main economic activities are pastoral, subsistence agricultural and small scale trade.
Isiolo Country has resources ranging from Forest, wildlife, minerals, building sand, water, pasture and land. Additionally they have touristic attractions such as Buffalo springs, Shaba and Bisanadi Game reserves and Lewa Downs conservancy.
